Well I am a Buddhist monk and I tried doing the CC100 many years ago. DNFed it after about 57 miles so no bumper sticker for me. Wasn't very mindful, but got to meet Jurek.
There's something about those inevitable low points in a very long race ... how once you've been initiated by the distance and you *know* they're coming, and you embrace that you're just going to have to problem-solve on the fly, and that it will of course involve some suffering, but that you will be suffering with others who are each confronting their own demons at various times throughout the distance ... that makes it so damn special.
